Budget Notice

The Excellence Academy Charter School for the Performing Arts adopted a proposed budget for the 2016-17 school year on June 13, 2016. A hard copy of the budget is available upon request at the school office at 811 Washington Street during business hours. A meeting to discuss and receive public input on the budget will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. in the conference room of Excellence Academy, 811 Washington Street, Monroe, La. The budget will be finally adopted at the August 22, 2016 meeting of the school board, meeting at 811 Washington Street, Monroe, La. 6:30 p.m.

 

 

New Student Council leaders

New student council leaders for the 2015-16 school year were announced at the 6th -7th grade honors program on May 23, 2015.

The President of the Council will be Learria Hill. An honor student, Ms. Hill will represent the Excellence Student body as an ex-officio member of the Excellence School Board.
Other members include: Debra Isaac, vice-president; Keosha Rattler, Markesia Hartwell, Craytonia Simmons, Jeremiah Moy, Cassie Nash, Amiah Thomas, Jaylissa Garth, Quineciua Norman, Meadow Saulsberry, Jasmine Harrison, and Neriah Toliver.

End of Year Tour

The entire school will leave on a four day learning tour May 26-29th. The tour will carry scholars to Tuskeegee University to tour the laboratory of the late George Washington Carver and the home of Booker T. Washington. In Atlanta, they will visit the King Center and museums. The highlight of the trip is to visit Selma, Alabama to see the Edmon Pettis bridge. Scholars participating will have no costs.

They scholars will leave on May 26th and return on May 29th.

Academy Awards Program

The annual Academy Awards/Graduation will be held on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Monroe Civic Center. The Excellence 8th graders will saluted for completion of their studies. A display of talents, and announcements of awards and prizes will be also be made the annual Academy Awards.

Request for Proposals for Maintenance

Excellence Academy Charter School for the Performing Arts is seeking Proposals from qualified providers of maintenance services to provide Facility Maintenance Services, and Grounds Maintenance Services for all buildings in the Excellence Complex at 811 Washington Street for the 2015-16 school year.  The purpose of issuing this Request for Proposals is to assist the School District in determining whether it can meaningfully reduce the costs of maintenance services.

The Excellence School Board will select the Proposal, if any, which it determines best meets the needs of the school.

Proposal fees should include the following:

To Perform Corrective Maintenance services as requested by the school to maintain all the School  Facilities in accordance with industry standards, in a safe operating condition. This will be done through planned or unplanned maintenance activity designed to repair/replace an entire component of the equipment/systems, and return the equipment/systems to its normal operating condition, if said component of the equipment/systems has failed or is not operating properly. The school shall be responsible for the costs for all parts for such Corrective Maintenance. If requested, the Contractor will provide the labor for such Corrective Maintenance at no additional charge.

The successful proposer will not be an employee of the school, but will be an independent contractor.

The proposer selected will:

• Be responsible for maintaining and servicing the facilities.

• Perform all aspects of the Facility Maintenance Services utilizing licensed or skilled tradespersons and obtain all permits as required by, and in accordance with, all applicable laws.

• Be responsible for: the selection, evaluation, training, compensation and retention of employees, including all labor, supervision and management necessary to maintain the Facilities in accordance with this RFP and the Contract.

• Utilize the School’s “Work Order System” to receive and assign “Work Orders” and Preventative Maintenance activities for the School District’s Facilities in cooperation with the school’s designated maintenance staff member.No Preventative Maintenance shall be performed without a Work Order unless in case of an emergency approved by School School’s Designee.

• Comply with all federal, state and local school safety rules, including providing personnel whose personal history does not place students in reasonable risk of danger or whose criminal history violates any state law.

• Provide the annual cost for providing the service to the school.

• Provide assurances that the vender has or can provide adequate liability insurance of no less than $1 million.
